Dive In!
Couple of interesting websites listed in the above issue, and so they say.....Dive In to explore.......
www.gulftel.com/~scubadoc Over 500 pages of information on a huge range of diving medicine topics for non-medical divers and non-diving medics. Use the search facility, indexes or FAQs. Pop your own question if the topic isn't already covered. You cam also subscribe to The Ten Foot Stop weekly newsletter. This site is complied and managed by doctors but note the disclaimer!
www.suunto.fi For those wanting to become Divers of the 21st Century, Suunto's site provides some good background on the development of computers and the range of features available. Download the demos or the Dive Manager software to see some startling (dangerous!) sample profiles in the dive log.
www.draegerdive.com Once the domain of the military, rebreathers are swimming silently into the recreational divemarket. What's all the fuss about? Read the newletter and discover why a photographer can get more turned on by a rebreather than a camera. The equipment section explains briefly how rebreathers operate to reduce overall air consumption.
www.uncwil.edu/nurc/aquarius Ever wish you had fish for neighbours? Explore the world's only underwater saturation laboratory, Aquarius, where scientists spend up to 10 days living and diving at 16 metres to research the ocean and reef habitat. Read the expedition journals and, with the right plug-in, tour the aquanauts' cramped living quarters inside Aquarius.
www.diveoz.com.au A site for the many divers who are fascinated by nudibranchs. The Dive-Oz site has an excellent collection of information, photos and diagrams on these small slugs' anatomy, reproduction, diet, and their colourful defence mechanisms. Follow the links to other nudibranch sites around Asia and the world. Explore the rest of the Dive-Oz site for wreck, dive site, club, shop and buddy directories for around Australia.
www.divedacor.com The web is full of useful and fun trivia. Did you know that Dacor equipment was used in the Baywatch series and the Titanic movie? Aside from some unusual endorsements, Dacor's easy-to-navigate web presence offers a divers' discussion board and information on the wide range of Dacor equipment from masks, BCDs and regs to wetsuits and scooters.
